Today’s episode offers a metaphysician’s assessment (my assessment) on cultural appropriation. Specifically, I look at the claim, floated on instagram, that AAVE (African American Vernacular English) should not be used by white people — this being a form of “cultural appropriation” that is immoral. Springboarding off of this claim, I delve into an assessment of the nature and basis for rights and whether such rights extend to something like the vernacular of a certain people. Even if not your sort of subject, you might be surprised to find how helpful metaphysics can be in even a topic such as this. So give it a look.
